A Mighty Empire
No man, not even a great one, can live forever. Empires are man's creation, and thus suffer from the same fatal flaw; they are not immortal. Mortality adds the spark needed for greatness, and Rome burned oh so brightly!
A living empire does not thrive without a great military, and the Romans were without equal in their time. The tall Roman war standard bearing the glorious eagle and the letters SPQR (Senatus Populusque Romanus) was the harbinger of destruction for any foes unlucky enough to face the Roman war machine on the field of battle.
Armed-to-the-teeth, efficient, cunning, and brutal...the Roman legions swept across the known world with terrifying force. Though thousands strong and seamlessly unified, the true power of the legion lay with the courage, dedication, and skill of the individual. The unbreakable backbone of the Roman army was the soldier.
The deadly dance of ancient war happened man-to-man, face-to-face, and the Roman soldier trained to kill or be killed. Weakness was certain death. Grueling ordeals to build stamina and ferret out the weak were a pillar of military life, and they forged fearsome men. The sight of a Roman charging onto the riverbank after a long swim in full armor was enough to break the fighting spirit of even the most confident opponent.

Our pendant captures the look of the Roman standard as it was on the field of battle, so many ages ago. The pendant is cast in lead-free pewter and is strung with an 18-inch black leather cord (2-mm thick). The lobster-style clasp is the easiest one to use that we could find; we wear what we make.
